An existing heritage guesthouse was re-conceptualised and converted into 3 luxury apartments through internal remodelling and the addition of a third storey. The existing century old tiled roof tiles and gables were retained and incorporated, with a clear distinction – both in terms of materials and expression – made between the historic fabric and the contemporary third storey addition.
The addition was set back behind the ridge line of the existing roof, so that the form of the roof as seen from the road remained unchanged.
Sea views were maximised by the addition of a new balcony within the existing tiled roof.
